Wayne Duckmann, PLS founded Ultimate Surveying Applications in 2022 in order to fulfill his lifelong dream of operating his own land surveying firm.  Wayne is committed to the profession and takes pride in its rich history.  In Illinois, there have only been 4,100 Professional Land Surveyor licenses issued since 1937; Wayne is umber 3,960.  

Wayne is a dedicated professional whose career journey blends public service, private enterprise, and a lifelong passion for community building. Wayne served as the Community and Economic Development Director for the City of Freeport for 4 years while also operating his new firm.   In 2025, Ultimate Surveying Applications had grown to a point where he could fully realize his dream and pursue his passion full time. His career is rooted in over 20 years of experience in land surveying, construction management, city planning,municipal development, and public administration.

Wayne is a licensed professional land surveyor in the states of Illinois and Wisconsin.  Beyond technical acumen, Wayne believes in serving his clients through the diverse circumstances that require a land surveyor.  Whether it is a boundary survey to construct a fence, staking out a foundation for a commercial building, or consulting a client with a zoning land use application, Wayne makes customer satisfaction paramount.

• Field Work: Wayne loves all of the aspects of surveying:  running the highly technical instruments, cutting line through the forest, pounding stakes on a construction site, and digging for property corners in the diverse terrains that make up the region. Surveying is not  just a job.  It is a passion to work outdoors and connect with its rich history.  
   
• Title Research & History:  Wayne enjoys studying title policies and putting in the work to determine the record location of boundary lines.  The land surveying motto, "walk in the footsteps of the surveyor before you" is one of the pillars of the industry.   Walking the lines of the original surveyor illustrates the history of the parcel and how the overall community was developed over time.   
   
• Communication & collaboration: Whether he’s interacting with a homeowner, developer, contractor, city planner, attorney, architect, or engineer,  Wayne excels at translating technical information into a clear and visual plan. He listens first and then helps clients understand their options. He can provide a multitude of plats and exhibits that not only serve as professional documents but also highly effective visual communication tools.   
   
• Versatility across project types: With a diverse background rooted in land surveying, construction management, and public administration, Wayne is equally comfortable with residential boundary surveys, commercial ALTA surveys, construction staking, site planning, and public sector projects.
   
• Client-first approach: Wayne believes that delivering professional land surveying services on time is just the start. He supports clients through zoning, permitting, inspections, construction layout, as-built surveys and closeout.   He ensures that survey data integrates smoothly into all phases of the project.
